Covid-19 Vaccine: First Priority
Since March, Legend Senior Living has worked hard to keep residents and family members updated with the latest information related to the COVID-19 pandemic. We have tried to be as transparent as possible about our efforts to curb the infections inside our residences and shared our COVID-19 protocols regularly.
It’s been a long road for residents, families and for our associates. But, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
The COVID-19 Vaccine and Seniors
You’ve already heard that multiple vaccinations are in the final approval process, but what does that mean for seniors?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as other federal agencies are preparing for an efficient and safe rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine. Unfortunately, not everyone can get the vaccine immediately; it would be too chaotic and there isn’t a large enough immediate supply. Instead, federal and local agencies are creating schedules for vaccination based on a variety of factors.
Because seniors are at an increased risk for serious complications due to COVID-19, older adults will be able to receive vaccinations earlier than younger citizens. The first tier of eligible seniors will be those who live in senior living communities.
A Sweet Time to Move In
The first eligible people for the COVID-19 include healthcare workers and residents in senior living communities. This means that team members and residents at Legend Senior Living residences will be among the first to receive the vaccine.
To say the least, this is happy news! Our residents and team members are thrilled to be among the first Americans to have the opportunity to receive the vaccines.
This means that now is the best time to move into the Legend Senior Living residence near you. Not only will you gain access to the amenities and features Legend residents always enjoy, your move will allow you to be among the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. It is important to note that seniors living at home will not have the same priority access to the vaccine as residents who live in senior living residences.
